We offer beautiful hand crafted beaded jewelry from Creaciones Chonita's, a cooperative in the town of San Antonio de Atitlan, on the shores of lake Atitlan in Guatemala. This is a cooperative of 95 women that works not only to support themselves, but exists to give back to the community. They have been active in rebuilding homes lost in Hurricane Stan a few years ago, using not only donations from groups in the US, but using their own monies.
Our beaded jewelry is fun and sometimes fanciful, but often can be worn for special occasions and events. If you want to have an item made in bulk for a special event we can even do that for you. We have supplied small "House" pins for a housing organization and special "Red Hat" pins for another group.
Our non-bead jewelry is provided by individual and family businesses in the Highland communities of Guatemala. We deal exclusively with indigenous Maya crafts people and always pay a living wage. As with all our products, the profits are used to fund community based projects in the communities we purchase from.
